Google has completely redesigned Google image search results and I surely seem to enjoy the layout and the host of new features it accompanies. Say Good Bye to old Image search results where you had small image thumbnails aligned beside each other and links and names which appeared below each of the image.

Now the new design brings certain freshness that was lacking in previous services offered by Google like the Buzz which I felt was heavily inspired from Twitter. So what so special about the new Google Image search, Well in its recent post Google explains the features,
- The images are now presented in a densely tiled layout to make it easy for you to view a lot of images at once.
- Now you need not navigate to further pages as you now have instant scrolling between pages. As seen in the picture you can now get up to 1,000 images, all in one scrolling page.
- For photography enthusiasts you will see larger thumbnail previews on the results page, designed for modern browsers and high-res screens.
- A hover pane has been introduced that appears when you hover over a given thumbnail image, giving you a larger preview, more information about the image and other image specific features.
- The most striking difference of all is that once you click on an image, you are taken to a new page (as in the picture) that displays a large image in context, with the website it’s hosted on visible right behind it.
- For those who prefer keyboard to a mouse, Google has introduced Optimized keyboard navigation for faster scrolling through many pages, taking advantage of standard web keyboard shortcuts such as Page Up / Page Down.

Google has also introduced a new feature for the advertisers where you will see new format of ads being served in the search results. Google is now in a process of rolling out the new image search to all of its local interfaces. Google has been tweaking its services for a while now. It has made vast improvements in terms of Search results by introducing “Caffeine” and made design modifications to the Google search. It is also making modifications to its Social networking site “Orkut”. In the intense battle fought in the Silicon Valley innovation is definitely leading the way and I hope to see Google approach new services this way giving us what Google really stands for.
