Google has launched Google Beat- a regular video series that highlights some of the hottest searches on Google in the U.S. Using data from Google Trends, Google Insights for Search and some additional tools, the Google Beat will give you a snapshot of some of the topics that prompted people to turn to the web over the past week.
The Videos will help not so geeky users understand what people are upto on Google and know the hottest trends in the past week. The Videos will be posted every week which means you will not get the most recent trends that you get in Google trends. Google trends is updated on a regular basis and Webmasters will probably continue using it. Google Beat will end up creating a different set of audience who would rather prefer trends explained to them in a Video than them going to Google trends and analyse it.
“Searches can be unexpected, and sometimes what’s popular one week could never have been predicted the week before (think of Falcon Heene, last October’s “balloon boy” or Steven Slater). We’re looking forward to seeing what our data will reveal.” -Emily Wood, Editor, Google Blog team
In its first Video, the hottest trends listed are,
* Eggs Recall
* Eggs Recall List
* Jimena Navarrete
* Miss Phillippines
* 19th Amendment
