If you may remember, Foursquare launched the much publicized “Foursquare Pages” few days ago — pages that work similar to Facebook Pages. Also, Foursquare teamed-up with Facebook to allow cross-linking of on Facebook Pages. Now web strategist Josh Harcus has noticed a Foursquare link on the left hand side of his Facebook page. It is not clear though if Facebook is automatically activating the links or admin themselves are adding Foursquare accounts. One thing is clear, just when Foursquare thought it had discovered a way to monetize its platform, Facebook has indirectly spilled cold water onto its dreams. Foursquare “Pages” [...]

blackberry curve

Editor’s Note: Guest Post By Mitesh Kothari Who Is An Account Manager At WatConsult. You Can Follow Him At @miteshkothari Once upon time RIM’s Blackberry used to be the blue eyed boy of the mobile phone industry. It kind of ruled the corporate segment and brought in lot of path breaking technologies. Shift to not so distant past and you will realize the fall of Blackberry was as quick as its rise. Across media there has been bashing and nothing else. Failure to upgrade the hardware , OS and a small app store seemed to have caught up with the [...]

claritics logo

When Claritics rolled out its analytics platform last year, there was a certain kind of enthusiasm about the tool. The platform was first of its kind that allowed app developers understand the metrics and figures of their applications. It empowered developers with data they could understand and make use of. Exactly a year later, the company has launched its analytics and optimization platform for mobile games and applications. This time though, Claritics is pitted against already established sites like Flurry and Apsalar. But the company has entered the muddy waters well prepared. One unique differentiator is the way they do [...]

Now that’s a bold statement about a product that is yet to launched publicly, but a quick look at the balance sheet of Foursquare re-inforces my belief that someone might just sweep them under the carpet. Foursquare is a perfect example of a social networking site that believes in building the product first -waiting for users to pour in- and then think about monetizing the platform. While this model has worked for some(case facebook), for many it hasn’t made any headway. Of course there are the discounts and the deals but they are very few and far in between. Also, [...]

ComScore has come out with a set of data that will probably surprise you. The company found nearly 1 in 5 smartphone owners access check-in services via their mobile device. Now, lets do a bit of math here. According to an earlier study by Nielsen, US would approximately have 142.8 million total smartphone users by 2011 and 20% of that roughly accounts to about 30 million users.
