Digg is reinventing itself and it will now resemble the popular micro blogging site Twitter. The latest move by Digg is to position itself differently from its peers like the Reddit and the Newsvine. The new design will make Digg the Twitter of News and you will see lot of similarities between Digg and Twittter including the followers and following concept.

The new Login page
The new Digg is still in aplha testing phase and currently only a handful have access to it. The stable version is expected soon. According to Digg, the new design focuses on Speed, Personalization and Diversity of Content. Once you login, you get “My News” as the default news page. Only stories that have been dugg or submitted by the sources you follow will show up in My News. The top menu has been moved to the left hand side of the page and the Submit new link sits prominently at the top reminiding us of Twitter and Facebook. Once you submit a link, you get an option of sharing the link on Twitter, and Facebook or you can also email your friends without leaving Digg making the new Digg much more Social than its predecessor.

The customised My News Page
Digg has also positioned itself as an RSS reader and it now features stories submitted via RSS by large and small publishers. You can also add any RSS feed yourself. On the official Digg blog an employee of Digg, T.J. DeGroat says, Digg allows users to discover and comment on the sometimes beautiful and sometimes ridiculous images that fly across the web.To honor the popularity of image submissions, we’re spotlighting only comments related to images in this month’s look at Digg comment lulz. All but one (a personal favorite, can’t help myself) received more than 1,000 comment Diggs. You really need to check out the submissions themselves for these to click, but the effort is worth it.

Digg has been inviting its users to test the new aplha version, its last batch had about 20 thousand of them.
