What better way to learn Social media marketing than meet the people who are captaining a company’s social media efforts — and so, as a part of this initiative to meet the people who have deep understanding of the industry and have spent a considerable amount of their time on the subject, I interviewed Ben Fowler over the email to really understand how he handles social media and the learning he’s acquired over the years. He was kind enough to take some time off and answer the questions I put forward to him. If you like this post, do share it with [...]

If you haven’t noticed yet, you can create a Page for most of the top tier brand on Google+ and the site would have no problem with that. For example, you can create a Page for Coca-Cola, or Toyota or even Ford Motor Company for that matter. I managed to create four different brand Pages and in the process Google+ never asked me if I had the legal authority to do so. While I’ll delete all the Pages once I finish writing the article, it clearly demonstrates how this thing could soon turn into a big problem for brands as well as [...]

Nielsen recently conducted a survey to understand what drives users to Like a Facebook Page or follow a brand on Twitter, and it came out with pretty much expected results. Traditional advertising mediums– that includes Television ads — continue to do better than social media. Call it hype, but sales from social media is still a distant dream for many. The failure may also be attributed to the fact that many SME’s fail to effectively utilize social media in marketing strategies. A study conducted by Ogilvy-ChatThreads on restaurant consumers found out that 69% of consumers noticed a TV ad for one of the five brands during a seven-day period, with TV ads representing 24% share of all touchpoints.
